Therapy for Family Caregivers
Making space to take care of you
Maybe you:
Find yourself getting frustrated or irritable more easily than you used to, which just leads to feeling even worse about the situation
Worry about how you will be able to continue caregiving for much longer, especially as your family member’s needs change
Wonder why you feel like you’re grieving, even while face to face with your loved one
You never expected that taking care of your loved one would be this hard.
How we can help
Together we’ll explore how to navigate your caregiving situation while keeping your needs in mind.
You spend so much time making sure that everyone else is taken care of that there’s no room left for you. Maybe you’re the first of your friends to be caring for a loved one, or maybe your caregiving situation is something you haven’t felt comfortable sharing with others. You’re not sure what you need, but you know it can’t continue on like this.
Before you began caregiving, you thought you could handle anything. Turns out, caregiving often means having to handle anything and everything, sometimes all at once.
We understand that it can be hard to turn the focus toward caring for yourself, which is why we’ll take therapy at your pace. We will work together to develop the skills you need to navigate the stressors of caregiving, advocate for additional support from family and friends, and process the emotional roller coaster of caring for a loved one.
imagine if you…
Could engage in caregiving without allowing the frustrations to take over.
You still have moments of frustration while caregiving - it’s a stressful thing after all! But you are able to process those stressful moments without letting them derail your whole day.
Had a plan in place to keep caregiving sustainable.
You recognize that the only way to continue caregiving is to make sure that your own health and wellbeing are being tended to. You are taking steps to take care of yourself in the midst of your caregiving situation.
Understood that grief and sadness are part of the experience of caregiving, and had a space to process those feelings.
You are aware that caregiving will be filled with both successes and challenges, and you are comfortable allowing yourself to feel the full spectrum of emotions related to your caregiving situation. You have access to spaces to get support about those feelings when you need.
WE want you to know:
You don’t have to navigate this alone.
Let’s work together to ensure that you are supported through your caregiving experience.
